Strong Thunderstorms Possible in Maine
PORTLAND, Maine — The region is bracing for the possibility of more severe weather.
The National Weather Service says thunderstorms could develop in areas of the state on Monday, with some capable of producing strong winds and heavy rain.
The weather service, meanwhile, is looking into whether a small tornado may have formed later Sunday afternoon over or near Sebago Lake in Raymond.
Meteorologists monitoring radar at the time saw some rotation at the time a tornado warning was in effect.
James Brown, a meteorologist at the weather service's Maine office, tells the Portland Herald that if the rotation occurred over water it would be a waterspout, but if it was over land it could have been a small tornado.
No injuries were reported.
