Thursday Storm to Miss Maine, NH; More Coming This Weekend
PORTLAND, Maine — Maine and New Hampshire residents weary of snow are going to get a respite once the latest snow departs.
Meteorologist Stacie Hanes from the National Weather Service office in Gray says the next storm on Thursday is now expected to track out to sea, sparing the region more snow. But she says there's another front moving in from the Great Lakes that'll probably bring more snow on Sunday.
The snowfall is a far cry from December, when there was a deluge of rain.
There's so much snow that towns and cities are having a hard time removing it. Boston just set a record for the most snow recorded in a 30-day period, with 61.6 inches by 7 a.m. Monday, breaking the record of 58.8 inches set in February 1978.
The Portland area has gotten about 74 inches this season, including 9.4 inches Monday and Tuesday.
